Gurl, You Better Cover That! [Video]

Our story begins with a lovely lady and her knight in shining armor. The couple met, they wooed, they fell in love and decided to get married. The lovely girl then found herself in need of bridesmaids, as you do, and was set with the task of finding such fair maidens that would do the job credibly. After filling all but one of the coveted positions, this lovely girl decided to present her best friend (that's me) with the prestige of being her matron of honor. The best friend (that's still me) was pleased as punch to have this honorable position bestowed upon her and was even more excited for the opportunity to don a beautiful, fancy dress to the event. For occasions to wear such a beautiful frock came along so infrequently for this mommy of 3 and she was excited to spend an evening in style.

Over the next few months, the dresses were chosen, the shoes were coordinated and excitement was shared by all. When the festive occasion finally arrived, the girls crowded the mirrors, applying lipstick and spraying hair. The bouquets were handed out and tears were shed. All was right with the world and the night went off without a hitch. All of the ladies looked beautiful in their flowing gowns....until months later when the pictures came back....

Now, you are probably wondering where this poorly articulated, ridiculous (but true) story is going. I promise there is a purpose! This particular story is leading into my first run-in with an ill fitting dress. Honestly, I am quite small; I don't have a whole lot of experience with the dreaded "bulge" but I'm not completely immune to it...as you are about to see. So what I thought at the time was a beautiful dress, turned out to be a whole lot less than flattering on me. It was all caught on camera and the pictures definitely don't lie...

 and...

No I am not, in fact, pregnant....although it looks as if there is a definite "bump". Nor had I given birth in recent months. Yet there my belly is, rivaling my booty for biggest bulge. I mean, what gives?? Did I eat a whole lot of carbs? Chug a case of beer? No! I mean, it looked beautiful from the front but turn to the side and BAM! I have no idea how this massive pooch came to be! But I do know (about 5 years too late to save Kerri's wedding day- sorry, girl!) just how to fix it! Enter: Jockey Skimmies® slipshorts

A whole new kind of underwear that smooths like a slip, and covers like shorts. Skimmies® slipshorts offer a seamless finish, sleek lightweight feel and all-day comfort with the added benefit of modesty. Plus, they help prevent chafing.

Basically, Jockey Skimmies® are like the modern day, super comfortable, slimming slip. The benefit of tucking and slimming without the feeling of granny panties. I picture Bridget Jones and her giant knickers but these are slim and much more pleasing to the eye! Should Daniel Cleaver come-a-knocking, there will be no embarrassing encounters for us!

To really give them a try and test them to their full potential, I knew I had to break out...dun, dun, dun... the less-than-flattering bridesmaid dress (I knew I kept it for something!).

Problem: solved! This dress is now as sleek and flattering as it was meant to be. The gorgeous color and fabric doesn't have to be outdone by an improper fit any longer! Unfortunately, the wedding day has come and gone but now I will never have to run into this misfortune ever again no matter what I'm wearing!

"So, ok Lindsey, they look nice but how do they feel?" I honestly have to say that wearing these did not feel any different than good ol, comfy, regular underwear. They weren't restricting or uncomfortable as I had thought they might be, they didn't ride, and they weren't hot either. I anticipated sweat in some unsavory places but I stayed cool as a cucumber; even in the 90 degree heat. Everything felt tight and tucked in...but in a good way. And one thing I was really worried about, was lines showing through the unforgiving fabric of this dress, but nay a line to be seen. This means our need for thongs just went right out the window, guys! No more perpetual wedgies! High five for that!

There are many different color choices to choose from, as well as different lengths. So whether you're rocking black or white, mini or a maxi, Jockey's got you covered!

Being a size XS/0, I never thought "modest" undergarments would be something that I would ever desire nor require but after a spin in these babies I'm thinking, of course I do! They have thoroughly debunked my assumption that you have to have "something to hide" to wear these. You don't have to be "curvy" for the Jockey Skimmies® to be beneficial. I was able to wear old clothes that had been neglected, my dresses hang better and lay smooth, and it just gives your wardrobe an entirely better look; a look I never realized I was missing out on!

Another great benefit, that goes for girls of any size, is the confidence it gives you! We all know with dresses there is a fine line between "too short" and "just right". With the Skimmies® slipshorts, I know that if I gust of wind creeps up with the intent to humiliate me, my booty is covered! No one is getting flashed these cheeks! That's definitely something I can get "behind". (Get it? Behind?) And that, my friend, is why Rachel Zoe is the queen of fashion and not me! She knew all this, even if I didn't! Don't want to take my word for it? You can hear all about it from her right here.

Check out the video below to see these babies in action and hear all about them, straight from the horse's mouth.....that'd be me; I'm the horse and it's my mouth...
